چکیده

Title of dissertation: HARMONIC ANALYSIS INSPIRED DATA FUSION FOR APPLICATIONS IN REMOTE SENSING Timothy J. Doster, Doctor of Philosophy, 2014 Dissertation directed by: Professor John J. Benedetto Department of Mathematics Professor Wojciech Czaja Department of Mathematics This thesis will address the fusion of multiple data sources arising in remote sensing, such as hyperspectral and LIDAR. Fusing of multiple data sources provides better data representation and classification results than any of the independent data sources would alone. We begin our investigation with the well-studied Laplacian Eigenmap (LE) algorithm. This algorithm offers a rich template to which fusion concepts can be added. For each phase of the LE algorithm (graph, operator, and feature space) we develop and test different data fusion techniques. We also investigate how partially labeled data and approximate LE preimages can used to achieve data fusion. Lastly, we study several numerical acceleration techniques that can be used to augment the developed algorithms, namely the Nyström extension, Random Projections, and Approximate Neighborhood constructions. The Nyström extension is studied in detail and the application of Frame Theory and Σ∆ Quantization is proposed to enrich the Nyström extension. Change Detection in Urban Area Using Decision Level Fusion of Change Maps Extracted from Optic and SAR Images

The last few decades witnessed high urban growth rates in many countries. Urban growth can be mapped and measured by using remote sensing data and techniques along with several statistical measures. The purpose of this research is to detect the urban change that is used for urban planning. Change detection using remote sensing images can be classified into three methods: algebra-based, transfor...

Remote sensing application in evaluation of soil characteristics in desert areas

Soil is one of the most important natural resources covering a large area of the land surface. Soil plays a vital role in biosphere processes, such as energy balance, hydrology, biochemistry, and biological productivity. It supports plants that supply foods, fibers, drugs, and some other human needs. Conversely, desert regions include about one third of earth lands and these regions have increa...
